President Mahama visits alma mater

President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, October 13th 2016 visited his alma mater, the University of Ghana. The president, who was invited by the University of Ghana's Tertiary Educational Institution's Network (TEIN) of the ruling National Democratic Congress was welcomed by thousands of students on the university campus.

JM is accessible and welcomes everyone to himself
Speaking to the crowd, the president reassured his commitment to make education in Ghana accessible to all by building more schools. He also justified his reasons for scrapping the teacher training allowances for loans.
"Teacher training allowance does not ensure equity" considering the fact that students in other tertiary institutions are not given such allowances. It is for this reason that we have replaced the allowance with students loans, just like students of the universities are given loans" the president said
