Bus Rapid Transit system begins in Accra with free WiFi

President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) System in Accra. This is a transport system that will provide affordable and accessible means of trans of transportation to and from the capital city to other parts of the greater Accra Region.

  Also known as the Ayalolo transport system, 245 buses would be commuting between Accra-Amasaman, Accra-Adentan  Accra-Kasoa and Accra-Afienya to start the Bus Rapid Transport System. The buses are scheduled to move on particular time intervals and irrespective of the number of people on board. Each bus is fully air-conditioned and fitted with USB charging systems, television sets,free WiFi internet connectivity and controlled externally by a central control system in BRT offices.

The inauguration of the Ayalolo Transport System will not sideline the operations of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, President Mahama said on Friday.
He said:“The system will rather supplement your efforts and provide time-boundtransport services to commuters in the capital.”

President John Dramani Mahama said this when he gave the go-ahead for the commencement of the Bus Rapid Transport System in selected areas of the Greater Accra Region.
President Mahama said the transport system, which would be operated in Accra on pilot basis, would be replicated in all regional capitals in the near future.
