Kumasi Central Market takes shape

Phase One of the Kejetia-Central market project comprises construction work in the area which is expected to be done within 24 months at the cost of $198 million, while the remaining $100 million will be expended on the second and third phases, which would focus on the redevelopment of the Kumasi Central Market.
A biometric exercise is currently ongoing to register traders of the Kumasi central market to enable them have secured shops when phase One of the project is completed.

 On page 36 of the NDC 2016 manifesto,investment in public/labour intensive works is outlines as one of the key strategies for creating more jobs for our youth. An example of this is the Kumasi Kejetia and Central Market Project whose current state is shown below. At the construction stage 300 artisans and professionals have been engaged to work on it.These workers earn income to fend for themselves and their dependants.The markets itself will have 10,000 stalls after the first phase and 25,000 stalls after the second phase.
